You Simply Walk Away

By: Erlinda Mejia-Olson

"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" –Matthew 16:26

The LORD is calling you—
Calling you for a greater task
To yield, to be willing, to serve
With a cold heart, you ignored the call
And you simply walk away.

The LORD is calling you—
To cast all cares upon Him
Because He loved you so
But unlovingly you take no heed
Callously, you simply walk away.

The LORD is calling you—
With such great of a plan
To fellowship with Him
And to make Him known
With no hesitation you simply walk away.

The LORD is calling you—
To trust in His free gift of salvation
Paid for you through eternity
But so caught up with the pride of life
No time, and so you simply walk away.

In your bed so ill and dying—
Grasping for that last breath
A life you borrowed from the LORD
Exhausted, moaning in pain
Hoping, wishing, wanting to live.

But the LORD says, “Your time has come.”
And like a rope cut in two—
In a split of a second
Your life has ended for good
And you died, UNPREPARED.

In the “Book of Life”
Your name is not found—
You’re calling on the LORD
But it was too late
With no delay off to Hell you go.

It is all because …

You simply walk away.
