White As Snow

The outside of my house has white siding on it—at least, it looks white most of the time. But in the winter, when the snow falls, the house suddenly looks dingy and yellow. When compared to the pure snow, my house suddenly doesn’t look so clean.

When we compare ourselves to other people, we can look pretty good—kind of like that siding that seems clean. But looking at the holiness of God reminds us of how dirty and dingy we really are.

When we gaze upon Him, we become aware of our own need. Once we get honest about our own sin, we can take hope in the words of Isaiah 1:18: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.” The blood of Christ can cleanse us from all sin.

Would you spend some time focusing on the holiness of God today?
