The Lord Is Waiting

By: Erlinda Mejia-Olson

"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." –Matthew 11:29-30

"And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life.  He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst." -John 6:35

There is more to life ...
This is not all there is ...

Such a tangled web we weave
Confined by the need for control
Trapped by the unquenchable desires
For material pleasures
Browbeaten by inconsolable thirst
For approval
For love
From everyone
From the world
Except for the One who loves us most.

Worrying, straining, squinting,
Brawling to liberate a proverbial yoke,
Wrestling to break away from the stiffness of life
And the innermost weight of knowing
That we are nothing
That our lives are incomplete
Apart from God who created us.

Dried out, longing for more
More of something
We cannot even circumscribe
We look everywhere, anywhere
Racing, beating the odds in wrong places,
Except for the One place
Where ultimate meaning of life
Is found.

The LORD is waiting
Change your direction
Come to Him
All you who are weighed-down
All you who are lost
He is the only way to salvation
He is hope
He is joy
He is freedom, direction, and purpose.

The LORD is waiting
Cast all your cares upon Him
Surrender all to Him
Every fiber of your being
To His nail-pierced hands
Make Him your light
In every dark corner of your life
Like a beacon of light
Who guides every step of your way.

The LORD is waiting
Yes, He is waiting for you
Patiently waiting …
To lead you home.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." -John 14:6
