"WHAT IF"

By: Erlinda Mejia-Olson

"Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.  For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.  For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"  -Matthew 16:24-26

What if your life is slipping away like a quicksand,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if you lose your family and all that you hold dear like Job,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if your plans don’t seem to succeed no matter what you do,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if God keeps closing doors after doors of opportunity,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if your desire to go abroad doesn't happen,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if you can't find the love of your life,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if you lose your house today,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if you don’t get the job you applied for,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if you don’t receive what you ask for,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if you are at the verge of financial bankruptcy,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if your so called "friends" leave you,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if the overall scheme of life treats you unfairly,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if you are suffering from a very painful illness,
Would you still talk about Jesus?
What if you find out that you only have a short time to live,
Would you still talk about Jesus?

What if you died today,
Would Jesus talk about you?

The awful truth is, it is easy to talk about Jesus when you are sitting in an ivory palace.

But, what if … ?
"And he said: "Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." -Job 1:21
